It's hard to believe that in the year 2006, a "former" Ku Klux Klan member would be elected to the Senate in the same election year of the Virginia "
macaca" scandal. But it's true,
"former" Klan member Robert C. Byrd was elected to the Senate again.
Byrd won the election for Senate in West Virginia. Senator Byrd is currently the only member of the Senate to have been a Ku Klu Klan organizer and a seating Senator. Byrd is a member of the Democratic Party.
Byrd was made famous again on Fox News in 2001 for using a very bad word. I know that this isn't new news to alot of people but the fact is that it is true.
